Why?
Like many brewers before me, I built a simple temperature controller using the STC 1000. It worked great to maintain temperatures in my fermentation chamber, but with any good DIY project, I've acquired a list of improvements I would make if I were to build it again. Added to base device improvements, I've also been wanting to try out Brulosopher's Quick Lager method. He uses a Black Box, but it's currently out of stock, and getting on an email waiting list isn't my gig.
Fortunately for me, matsstaff has provided the code and very clear instructions on how to flash a standard STC 1000 with his custom software. The software adds the ability to create profiles, ramp temperatures, and display Fahrenheit instead of just Celsius.
